The Jennifer Aniston Smoothie

Jennifer Aniston curvy and skinnyRemember on Friends when Rachel was curvy and the producers decided to cash in on it and put her in all those miniskirts and crop tops (so popular in the mid-90’s) and turned the air conditioning way up in the studio so her you-know-whats were always standing at full attention?

And then remember how Jennifer Aniston started doing Atkins and yoga and trimmed down to the amazing level of fitness she still somehow manages to maintain to this very day?

It seems that every day, there’s a new celebrity fitness regimen or diet written up in a glossy magazine, and we just eat it up (so to speak), don’t we? We – the same people who have managed to put a man on the moon,  and split an atom in half – are so easily fooled into thinking that if we do a certain series of crunches or eat a certain combination of nutrients in a certain way every day, just like they do, we will be able to look perfect (and, ahem, Photoshopped) just like they do.

When I read this little blurb in a recent InStyle interview with Jennifer Aniston, at first I was skeptical.

Jennifer Aniston in Feb 2015 InStyle magazine

Oh boy! Here’s what Jen uses on her hair! Here’s the makeup Jen wears! Here’s the workout Jen does! (I do actually believe that claim; she’s been working with trainer Mandy Ingber for years.)

And then I saw the list of ingredients she (allegedly) puts in her smoothie every morning, and I thought, Damn, that sounds yummy

Blueberries, banana, and frozen cherries. Walnuts. Chocolate. I wouldn’t mind eating this every day either, Jen.

I’m not saying that drinking this shake every day will make me look like Jennifer Aniston. I doubt that even Jennifer Aniston looks like “Jennifer Aniston” on most days. I do know that I admire her respect for her body – she nourishes it with healthy food, and she treats it well with stimulating yet gentle workouts. Or at least that’s what it says in the glossy magazines.

Either way, this smoothie is really good.

Disclaimer: This is not Jennifer Aniston’s actual smoothie recipe; in no way does Jennifer Aniston have anything to do with this recipe. Please don’t sue me, Jennifer Aniston – I’m good people.
